Air India's Recruitment Goes Awry; 25,000 Job Aspirants Find themselves in a Stampede-like Situation

By Consultants Review Team Wednesday, 17 July 2024

Air India's big recruiting drive resulted in a stampede-like scene in Mumbai. More than 25,000 job hopefuls gathered in Mumbai's Kalina district for a walk-in interview at Air India Airport Services Ltd., which offered 2,216 handyman positions with a wide range of repair and maintenance activities. The enormous turnout caused havoc as hopefuls flooded the recruiting office despite the few job positions.

According to footage circulating on social media, hopefuls were seen vying for positions at the form booths. According to many media accounts, the candidates were forced to wait for an extended period of time without food or drink, and many of them began to feel ill as a result.

In reaction to the large throng, Air India administrators advised hopefuls to submit their applications and depart, skipping the scheduled interviews. This decision was made to handle the situation and avoid additional disturbance among job seekers.

Air India Express extends services with new Mumbai-Kuwait and Mumbai

Air India Express on Tuesday, July 16, announced the start of flight operations on two new sectors, connecting Mumbai to Kuwait and Mangaluru, in an effort to improve both local and international connectivity.

With more than 112 weekly flights currently in service, the airline's growth represents a major improvement in its connectivity from Mumbai, according to a statement issued by the airline.

Seven Indian cities provide direct flights to Kuwait

Air India Express, which already operates direct flights to Kuwait from seven major Indian cities—Kozhikode, Kannur, Kochi, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Mangaluru, and Mumbai itself—has expanded its flight schedule to include these additional routes.

In order to improve connectivity between the Gulf area and important destinations in India, the airline has now planned 24 weekly departures from Kuwait.

Apart from direct routes, Air India Express provides easy one-stop routes from Kuwait to other Indian destinations, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, and Jaipur.

By this calculated growth, Air India Express hopes to fortify its position in the global aviation industry and meet the rising need for air travel.
