Amazon plans to launch its quick commerce services in India by the first quarter of next year. The US e-commerce behemoth is concentrating on developing its quick commerce strategy, with a senior executive driving the charge as part of a recent leadership move. This effort is Amazon's attempt to penetrate the rapidly expanding quick commerce industry, where its competitor, Flipkart, has already begun testing its 'Minutes' service in select parts of India.
Amazon is also allegedly in discussions to buy a stake in Swiggy, focusing on the food delivery company's fast service platform, Instamart. This proposed collaboration might help Amazon improve its position in the rapid commerce and food delivery markets.
Amazon has been developing its quick commerce company for some time, but there is now more clarity on when it will begin. The corporation is awaiting permission from its global headquarters, as this would be Amazon's first fast-service option internationally.
Amazon has expertise in grocery delivery in India with its Pantry service, which provides next-day delivery. This service was eventually amalgamated with Amazon Fresh, which guarantees delivery within two hours. To fulfill these purchases, Amazon collaborates with More Retail shops, a joint venture with Samara Capital, and provides in-store pickup.
According to reports, the corporation intends to eventually lower delivery times to as little as 20-30 minutes in response to rising demand for ultra-fast deliveries in India.
