Apple has begun hiring for its upcoming retail stores in India, a significant step toward the company's expansion in the country. Apple is committed to increasing its physical presence in one of its fastest-growing markets, as evidenced by the opening of the new stores in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune.
Apple's Next Big Step In India
Leader of the Apple Store John Taaffe posted on LinkedIn to announce the hiring initiative. "We are thrilled to announce the opening of four new Apple retail stores in Pune, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore!"Taaffe wrote, "Apple has had an amazing journey in India, and we're excited to keep growing in these vibrant cities."
Over 20 positions were posted on Apple's careers website, "Jobs at Apple," this month, with almost half of them being in retail operations. Jobs are offered in "various locations" across India, indicating the breadth of Apple's recruitment efforts. Speaking to a wide spectrum of applicants, Taaffe said, "Whether you have experience in retail or are looking to start a new career path, there are opportunities waiting for you."
Why is Apple Doubling Down on India?
Following the successful opening of its first two stores, Apple BKC in Mumbai and Apple Saket in Delhi, in 2023, Apple has now expanded its retail presence in India. High customer traffic has been seen at these stores, especially during iPhone launches, underscoring the significance of India to Apple's global strategy. During Apple's Q1 2025 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook emphasized the company's strong performance in the Indian market. "We achieved record iPhone sales in India during the December quarter, with the iPhone emerging as the top-selling model in India for the quarter," Cook said. India, he added, is "the world's second largest smartphone market and the third largest for PCs and tablets."
Physical Stores: A Key Strategy
Apple views its stores as more than just places to make purchases. "Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and it's been wonderful to deepen our connection with our customers in India," said Deirdre O'Brien, senior vice president of retail at Apple.
The company's overall strategy of giving customers an in-person experience that enables them to interact with products, attend workshops, and take part in the Apple community is in line with Apple's expansion of its retail network in India.
A Long-Term Bet on India
It is not surprising that Apple has increased its presence in India. From local manufacturing to software development, the company has progressively increased its investments in the nation. Another step to establishing its presence in an area with significant growth potential is the opening of four new stores.
These stores will improve customers' access to Apple products and services. For job seekers, they provide an opportunity to join one of the world's most valuable technology companies.
