Apple Set to Launch Meta-Inspired Smart Glasses by 2027

By Consultants Review Team Monday, 14 October 2024

Apple is supposedly planning to enlarge its visionOS-powered device list soon. The company launched its first mixed-reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro, in 2023. Since then, it hasn't announced any major updates to the lineup expecting timely updates to vision.

But now a new report suggests that Apple’s Vision Products Group is working on at least four devices. While two of these devices are likely to be released in 2027, at least one device is likely to be divulged in 2025 and one in 2026.

In his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stated that Apple’s Vision Products team is innovating two new mixed-reality headsets similar to the Vision Pro, anticipated to be released in 2025 and 2026. The first device is a low-end Vision pro like MR headset that is likely to arrive in 2025. The headset could be priced around USd 2,000 and use a bit of affordable material.

It is also likely to be powered by a small inferior processor and miss out an EyeSight feature that shows a user’s eyes on the front of the MR headset to authorize nearby people to get to know when the user is using apps and when they are surprised in an experience.

The company is also developing a second-generation Vision Pro, which is expected to launch in 2026. This high-end mixed reality headset is awaited to feature a faster chipset and support for more developed Apple Intelligence capabilities. Gurman didn’t mention the possible pricing of this device in his newsletter.

Beyond these, the company is also working on developing Meta’s Ray-Ban-like smart glasses. These smart glasses, similar to Meta's, will allow users to take photos, listen to music, and access information from Apple’s AI. They are anticipated to launch sometime in 2027.

Lastly, Apple is also working on developing AirPods with cameras, something stated for a long time. These AirPods with cameras will utilize external cameras and Apple’s AI to perceive the surrounding environment and deliver relevant information to users. They are expected to launch in 2027 alongside Apple’s smart glasses.
