BSNL has declared that its 5G services will begin following the completion of the 4G rollout in mid-2025. Furthermore, the state-owned telco has unveiled seven new services to improve the user experience across India.
After months of anticipation, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has officially announced the launch of its 5G services. During the launch of the new BSNL logo and seven new indigenous services, Union Minister of Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Sh Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, announced that BSNL plans to begin its 5G deployment in 2025. Scindia announced that BSNL has successfully completed testing of its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) and core network on both the 3.6 GHz and 700 MHz frequency bands, bringing next-generation connectivity to India.
Scinidnia also stated that the telecom intends to establish 1,00,000 BSNL 4G sites by mid-2025, all of which will later be upgraded to 5G as part of a phased rollout plan, according to PIB. According to the article, BSNL's 5G testing included a collaboration with the Centre for Development of Telematics and local producers to evaluate indigenous equipment and solutions. The testing were successful, and BSNL is now pushing on with its plans to implement 5G, which might offer faster speeds and better connectivity.
Meanwhile, in addition to confirming the imminent 5G launch, BSNL announced seven new services targeted at improving security, cost, and reliability for its customers across the country. These services are consistent with BSNL's initiatives to reduce the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
