CES 2025: Samsung Introduces On-device AI Functionality to TVs with 'Vision AI'

Samsung is going all out for artificial intelligence at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 with its new entertainment gadgets, including its 2025 TV lineup. At its CES 2025 First Look presentation, Samsung introduced a package of AI technologies for TVs dubbed "Vision AI." Samsung also unveiled new features in conjunction with Microsoft and Google for new entertainment devices such as speakers and soundbars.

Samsung stated that with Vision AI, Samsung TVs will become "aware of its surroundings," better adjusting to user preferences, and autonomous in delivering intuitive features. The new Vision AI features include:   

Click to search: This feature will allow users to look up further information on the content displayed on the screen. This includes identifying a performer, learning more about the scene being shown, and more.   

Live Translate: With on-device AI translation models, Samsung TVs will be able to provide real-time subtitle translations.

Generative Wallpaper: Users can create personalized artwork to display on their TV when it is idle.

Aside from these features, Samsung has partnered with Microsoft to provide a wide range of Copilot AI services such as personalized content recommendations for Smart TVs and Smart Monitors. The South Korean IT behemoth also said that it will collaborate with Google to expand what Vision AI can do.   

Samsung also unveiled a new 3D audio technology named "Eclipsa Audio" in collaboration with Google for its 2025 TV and soundbar lineup. According to the business, Eclipsa Audio enables designers to alter audio data such as sound location and intensity, as well as spatial reflections, to create a realistic three-dimensional sound experience. Creators will soon be able to publish videos with Eclipsa Audio tracks to YouTube, and users with compatible Samsung devices will be able to watch YouTube videos with quality spatial audio when they become available.
