Foxconn-Stellantis Joint Venture establishes R&D for Auto Semiconductor Tech in India

SiliconAuto, a Foxconn-backed automotive technology business, has established a research and development center in Bengaluru to focus on semiconductor product design and system-on-chip development for the automotive sector. SiliconAuto is a joint venture between Stellantis NV of the Netherlands and Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn).

"This new center represents SiliconAuto's dedication to automotive innovation and quality. Our India team is ready to carry out our vision of a better and safer future for transportation. Bangalore, with its large talent pool and flourishing digital ecosystem, is an ideal home for our new design center," SiliconAuto CEO Gene Liu said in a statement.

In a social media post, Foxconn India representative V Lee stated that the R&D center is ready to accelerate the company's inventive skills in the development of cutting-edge automotive technologies and solutions for the automobile sector, including Stellantis.

Foxconn is currently constructing an electric car production factory and intends to establish an electric vehicle battery manufacturing unit. SiliconAuto stated that the India design center will create next-generation semiconductor solutions for electric cars (EVs), autonomous driving, and connected car technologies.

"With this expansion, SiliconAuto underlines its commitment to India as a critical market for talent and technological growth. "The company plans to recruit top engineers and designers, further strengthening its team and contributing to India's rapidly growing automotive ecosystem," according to the announcement.
