The waiting period for a German visa appointment has been drastically shortened, with applicants now just having to wait a maximum of 5 days. Philipp Ackermann, Germany's ambassador to India, applauded this encouraging trend. He also appreciated the tremendous improvement and present service provided to the Indian public, noting that visas will now be issued more promptly than previously.

During an interview with ANI, Ackermann stated, "We have in the last couple of weeks and months improved the visa service as such, that basically, your waiting time for an appointment is between two days and five days."

Indians Make up the Greatest Proportion of Students in Germany

Aside from the labor market, Germany is becoming a popular destination for Indian students pursuing higher education. According to recent data released in August, Indian students accounted for the greatest share of the over 42,000 students studying in Germany, representing a 25% annual growth. Ackermann expressed his delight, given that India now has the largest international student population in Germany.

Visa Categories in Germany

The German missions in India issue two categories of visas. If a person is planning a brief visit to Germany, such as a business trip, visit, or vacation, he or she will need a Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days, often known as a "short-term visa" or "C visa."

Or if a person intends to stay for more than 90 days, for example, to work in Germany, reunite with a spouse, or attend university? In that instance, the individual would apply for a German National visa, often known as a "long-term visa" or "D visa."

Can You Apply for a German Visa in Advance?

Given that it can take up to 15 days for the embassy to process your application and send your passport back, it's in your best interest to apply for the visa as soon as possible. It's recommended that you submit your application at least three months before your travel date.
