QatarEnergy and Guangzhou Guanggang Gases & Energy Co. Ltd (G-gas) have signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) to supply 100 million cubic feet of helium per year from Qatar to the People's Republic of China.
The 20-year deal is the first direct, long-term SPA for helium supply from Qatar to China. The high-purity helium will be supplied by the excellent helium facilities in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
His Excellency The signing of the SPA was witnessed by Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, and senior executives from G-gas and QatarEnergy attended a special ceremony at QatarEnergy's headquarters in Doha.
Helium is essential for many critical industries, including defense, space exploration, high-tech manufacturing, medical technology, and scientific research.
Applications for Qatar's premium helium are numerous and include deep sea diving, semiconductors, MRI scanners, industrial coolants, entertainment, and specialized welding, among many others.
