Google Maps has Launched a New Alert Regarding Fake Reviews

By Consultants Review Team Thursday, 26 September 2024

A new function has been released by Google Maps to assist customers in locating companies that could have a large number of fraudulent ratings. Business profiles suspected of having a high percentage of fraudulent reviews will see a signal from the new alert system.

The Search Engine Roundtable reports that Google Maps now displays a caution card.

Users are notified by the notification that the listing has been updated to remove one or more fraudulent reviews. After first debuting in the UK, this feature is now beginning to show up in the US.

Users will be informed by the notice that there's a chance the company profile in question has "unusually high or low ratings." Users will be able to choose local companies and services with more knowledge thanks to this.

The precise standards by which Google determines if a company profile has an abnormally high or low amount of phony reviews are not publicly known.

There are restrictions for the company profile in the warning. It is possible that the company won't be able to get any more reviews for a while. Google adds that ratings and reviews that already exist might not be publicized, probably while the inquiry is ongoing
