Google is redesigning its video calling product, Google Meet. The software behemoth is unveiling a revised UI, as well as a slew of new features, to better align the platform with its meeting capabilities.
Meet's calling interface has been refreshed, making it easier to initiate and accept video conversations, as well as schedule them for later. The new design includes a contemporary pre-call screen for a more seamless user experience. Once the call begins, users will see new call controls located at the bottom of the screen for quick access.
With backdrops, filters, and effects, you can add some zing to your video tile, whether you're traveling to a new destination or spicing up your outfit. You may now overlay effects, such as a filter, backdrop, and accessories, to make you appear your best (or simply have fun).
Other major enhancements include an improved audio-only option for people on the move, live captioning in over 70 languages, and the ability to apply fun effects and filters.
With these new capabilities and a revised UI, Google hopes to make Meet the go-to platform for both personal and business video chats. The upgrade is presently being rolled out to users, and Google pledges to continue improving the platform based on feedback.
These changes will be gradually rolled out to Google Meet video chats over the coming few months. Keep your Meet app updated so you can access them as soon as they become available. If someone on your video conference does not use the most recent version of Meet, the call will default to the legacy calling experience.
