November 2024 saw the most traffic in Indian domestic aviation history, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the country's aviation regulator. Both airports and airlines were influenced by this incredible increase; Delhi Airport had its greatest month to date. According to reports, three airlines also experienced historically high performance levels at this time.

IndiGo's historic milestone in November

IndiGo became the first airline in India to transport more than 10 million passengers in a single month. International travelers made up the remaining portion of them, with 9.07 million being domestic passengers.

This broke earlier records of 8.64 million passengers in October 2024 and 8.52 million passengers in December 2023, making it the airline's greatest domestic passenger total since its founding eighteen years ago. Another record is probably going to be established in December 2024.

IndiGo's market share reached a record high of 63.6% as a result of this performance. According to the airline's Q2FY25 financial reports, the accomplishment coincides with its recognition of the normalization of demand and the pressure on yields.

According to the report, IndiGo's domestic activities have grown to 1.5 times their pre-Covid-19 size, with even more growth in overseas operations, even though the company reported a loss after seven profitable quarters.
