Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with ACWA Power, a Middle Eastern developer, to build a desalination plant in Saudi Arabia.

In a joint venture with the Spanish company Lantania, L&T's water and effluent treatment division was awarded the contract.

The design, acquisition, construction, testing, and commissioning of a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant are all included in the project's scope, according to L&T.

About a million people will benefit from the plant's provision of drinking water for the Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Baha regions.

This enhances L&T's standing in the Middle East and is the company's second desalination order in Saudi Arabia in recent years.

The company's resolve to broaden its regional presence into all nearby and business-friendly regions is demonstrated by this sizable order. The company considers contracts valued between Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,000 crore to be large orders.

With operations across several regions, L&T is a $27 billion multinational corporation based in India that specializes in high-tech manufacturing and services, engineering, procurement, and construction projects. It has operations in over 50 nations worldwide. Due to its strong, customer-focused strategy and unwavering dedication to superior quality, L&T has achieved and maintained leadership in its main business lines for eight decades.
