Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently tested Apple's Vision Pro mixed reality headset and compared it to Meta's Quest 3 AR/VR headset. Sharing his experience on Instagram, Zuckerberg highlighted Quest 3's superiority in terms of affordability, immersion, and comfort. He emphasized that Quest 3 offers better value for money, being seven times less expensive than Vision Pro.
Zuckerberg noted several advantages of Quest 3 over Apple's offering. Firstly, Quest 3 is lighter by 120 grams, ensuring greater comfort during prolonged use. Additionally, its wireless design allows for more freedom of movement compared to Vision Pro, which relies on a wired battery pack. Moreover, Quest 3 boasts a wider field of view, enhancing the immersive experience.
While acknowledging Vision Pro's higher screen resolution as a positive aspect, Zuckerberg pointed out its motion blur issue and highlighted Quest's superior crispness. He expressed surprise at the compromises Apple had to make in terms of device quality, comfort, and display to achieve its level of performance.
Discussing features, Zuckerberg mentioned Quest's support for precision controllers, ideal for gaming, and the plan to reintroduce eye-tracking capabilities in future iterations. Despite Vision Pro's eye-tracking feature, Zuckerberg found Quest to be superior in meeting users' needs for a variety of tasks, given its significantly lower price point.
Comparatively, Vision Pro is priced at $3,499, while Quest 3 starts from $499.99 for the 128GB model, making Quest 3 a more cost-effective option. Zuckerberg concluded the video by thanking his team for their efforts in developing VR headsets over the years.
