Martin Dinesh Gomez, the chief human resource officer (CHRO) of quick commerce firm Zepto, has left after less than a year in the role.
Gomez joined Zepto in February of this year after working for Amazon for 11 years.
With over 20 years of HR expertise, he has held different leadership positions at organizations such as Microsoft, Thomson Reuters, and Accenture, among others.
A Zepto spokeswoman confirmed that Chandan Mendiratta, who came as chief brand officer in January, has taken over the HR position as chief culture officer, effective October 31.
Mendiratta manages Zepto's brand marketing strategies and strategy, and she will now take on additional responsibilities as chief culture officer.
Mendiratta formerly worked as the chief growth officer at Classplus. He also spent four years at Zomato, where he held several leadership positions such as head of brand marketing and global sales head for dining.
Gomez joins a growing line of high-level executives who have left the rapid commerce business in recent months. In June 2024, Manik Oberoi, former VP of growth and retention, and Viral Jhaveri, former chief business officer and chief growth officer with a two-and-a-half year tenure at Zepto, left the company.
Earlier this year, Ashish Shah, the company's former senior vice president of finance, quit Zepto.
These exits follow Zepto's big funding rounds. The company just raised $350 million from domestic investors in November 2024, following previous rounds of $340 million in August and $665 million in June, at a valuation of $5 billion.
Zepto, founded in 2021 by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, says that its gross merchandise value exceeded $1 billion in FY24, with approximately 75% of its dark stores reaching positive EBITDA by May 2024. The company is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) in the coming years and is moving its headquarters to India.
