On October 17, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd stated that its Manesar facility had reached the milestone of producing one crore automobiles, making it the fastest Suzuki plant in the world to accomplish so in 18 years.

The iconic vehicle, a Brezza SUV, debuted on October 6, 2024. The Manesar factory spans 600 acres and produces models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Ciaz for both domestic and foreign markets. The achievement recognizes Maruti's contribution to the 'Make in India' strategy and employment development in the automotive industry.

Maruti Suzuki's annual production capacity is about 23.5 lakh units. Since its foundation, the company has built more than 3.11 crore vehicles.

In April of this year, the business increased the manufacturing capacity at its Manesar factory in Haryana by one lakh units per year.

"We intend to roughly quadruple our capacity to 4 million vehicles per year over the next 7-8 years, and this annual capacity increase of 100,000 vehicles is a step toward that goal. It would allow us to better serve our customers and increase our entire capacity to produce up to 23.5 lakh vehicles per year," said Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, in a news statement on April 9.

At 12:34 p.m. on October 17, Maruti Suzuki's shares on the BSE were trading 2% down at Rs 12,117.5 per.
