By Consultants Review Team Wednesday, 04 September 2024

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has expanded its Sustainability Garage project to include two additional Centers of Excellence in Hyderabad and New Delhi. The expansion was announced at the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Dialogue India 2024, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The Climate Tech Incubator, the inaugural hub, will assist 25 social companies focused on sustainable transportation and environmental innovation. This center, in collaboration with T-Hub, a well-known Indian business incubator, will provide seed capital, mentorship, and other resources. Furthermore, nearly 500 students will be involved in developing novel climate technology solutions.

The second center, established in conjunction with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), will focus on charging infrastructure. It plans to give specialized training and certify 60 young people this year to meet the growing need in this industry.

Renata Jungo Brüngger, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, emphasized the company's commitment to long-term value creation and environmental sustainability. Manu Saale, Managing Director and CEO of the MBRDI, emphasized India's critical role in promoting climate-positive solutions.

Earlier this year, the first Sustainability Garage Centre of Excellence was established, focusing on sustainable materials. The Sustainability Dialogue India 2024 gathered industry experts to discuss advances in decarbonization, circularity, and sustainable transportation.
