Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed optimism on Tuesday that India's historical connections with Brunei and its Strategic Partnership with Singapore will be strengthened as he headed on a visit to both nations.

Noting that this will be the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister to Brunei Darussalam, he said in his departure statement that he was looking forward to meeting with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other members of the royal family to take the historical relationship to new heights.

He stated he was looking forward to seeing President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Modi will also have meetings with business community leaders in Singapore.

"I look forward to my discussions to deepen our Strategic Partnership with Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development," he added.

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both nations are crucial allies of India's Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision.

He stated, "I am confident that my visits would further strengthen our partnership with Brunei, Singapore and the larger ASEAN region."
