PM Modi Meets Tech CEOs, Addresses AI, Semiconductors, and India's Development Prospects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently hosted a roundtable discussion with prominent US technology CEOs and industry experts at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering in New York.

The meeting was part of his three-day tour to the United States, and the goal was to boost India-US cooperation in the technology sector. The conversations centered on prospective collaborations in advanced disciplines including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biology.

Perspectives Innovation

Modi emphasizes India’s potential as a global innovation powerhouse. Notable attendees at the discussion included Adobe Chairman and CEO Shantanu Narayen, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su, and Moderna Chairman Noubar Afeyan.

During the discussion, Modi stressed India's emerging role as a global innovation powerhouse. He also invited US companies to benefit on possibilities in India's booming digital and technological industries.

Strategic Partnership

Modi encouraged businesses to leverage India's development story for innovation. PM Modi underlined the importance of technological collaboration in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, citing the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET).

He reaffirmed his resolve to making India the world's third-largest economy. He also encouraged businesses to leverage India's growth story for collaboration and innovation.

The Ministry of External Affairs paraphrased him as stating, "Companies can co-develop, co-design, and co-produce in India for the world."

IP Protection

Modi reaffirms commitment to intellectual property protection. Modi informed business executives that India is committed to preserving intellectual property and supporting technical innovation, particularly in electronics, information technology, and semiconductors.

He restated the government's goal of making India a "global hub of semiconductor manufacturing." He also mentioned India's BIO E3 program, which aims to make the country into a biotech powerhouse, and the ethical promotion of AI through the "AI for All" project.
