By Consultants Review Team Monday, 21 October 2024

Eicher Motors' Royal Enfield has started operations in Bangladesh, with a flagship store in Dhaka and a manufacturing site, offering a variety of 350cc motorcycles to meet rising demand.

The Bangladesh foray is in collaboration with IFAD Motors, and motorcycle bookings begin on October 21.

"Our vision is to expand the middleweight motorcycle segment globally, and our entry into Bangladesh marks another important milestone in this journey," said Royal Enfield's Chief Commercial Officer, Yadvinder Singh Guleria. Royal Enfield has expanded throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific areas, and began CKD operations in Nepal last year.

COO Yadvinder Singh Guleria expressed confidence that Bangladesh has the potential for growth in the recreational motorcycling segment. "Through localized production and assembly, we aim & commit to elevate the customer experience, improve accessibility and expand the motorcycling way of life with the Bangladesh riding community."

The Bangladesh manufacturing factory is Royal Enfield's sixth assembly unit outside of India, following Nepal, Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, and Argentina. Eicher Motors stated that the Bangladesh car sector is one of the largest in South Asia, and the local unit will have an assembly capacity of more than 30,000 units per year to meet rising demand.

Local partners IFAD Motors have stated that they plan to expand its dealer network across Bangladesh in the future years to attract new buyers.
