By Consultants Review Team Wednesday, 12 June 2024

Snapdeal and Digital India Bhashini, an autonomous business division founded by MeitY under DIC, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create services and solutions aimed at strengthening language translation efforts to advance digital inclusion in India.

The MOU was reportedly signed by Amitabh Nag, CEO of Bhashini, and Bharat Venishetti of Snapdeal.

The CEO of Snapdeal, Himanshu Chakrawarti, discussed the cooperation: "The partnership centers on Snapdeal's dedication to promoting digital inclusivity in India." We are excited to unite Snapdeal's strong e-commerce platform with Bhashini's in-depth knowledge of language solutions to empower people from a variety of linguistic backgrounds. Our goal is to improve online purchasing accessibility and affordability, especially in Tier 3 cities and beyond, and this program fits right in with that goal.

Furthermore, the agreement highlights the dedication to addressing India's heterogeneous language terrain and ensuring universal accessibility to digital services. It is anticipated that the partnership would make use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create creative solutions supporting more than nineteen colloquial languages.

In our effort to advance language diversity and digital accessibility, our collaboration with Snapdeal represents a significant turning point. We are committed to removing obstacles, fostering more digital engagement, and developing a more integrated and welcoming digital environment for all Indians through the application of AI and voice-first technologies, said Amitabh Nag, CEO of Bhashini.
