The Taiwanese laptop manufacturer MSI said Tuesday that it has started production in India, with its first plant located in Chennai.

According to a company release, MSI will launch locally made versions of the MSI Modern 14 and MSI Thin 15 laptop models in keeping with the "Make in India" goal.

With the brand continuously spreading its footprint throughout the nation, India has emerged as one of MSI's fastest-growing markets.

"As demand for high-performance laptops continues to rise, MSI is excited to contribute to India's thriving tech ecosystem by offering locally manufactured devices that meet global standards," stated the statement.

According to the statement, MSI is expanding the number of touchpoints, such as additional laptop brand stores and availability at Croma and Reliance Retail, in order to improve product accessibility in India.

Retail costs for the India-made Thin and Modern laptop series would start at Rs 73,990 and Rs 52,990, respectively.

"We are confident that this will mark the beginning of a new era in MSI's journey and help penetrate the Indian market further while enhancing operational efficiencies and contribute to India's journey as a global leader in technology," John Hung, NB General Manager for MSI India.

"India has always been a top priority for MSI, and our decision to start local production was largely influenced by the rising demand for high-performance laptops in the nation.

"We have no doubt that this will usher in a new era for MSI and aid in its entry into the Indian market."
