TCS Inks a Deal with McDonald's Philippines to Digitize Operations at 760 Outlets

By Consultants Review Team Wednesday, 18 September 2024

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services business, announced on Wednesday that it has inked a two-year cooperation with McDonald Philippines to modernize the fast-food chain's infrastructure.

The deal's magnitude was not disclosed. TCS struck an arrangement with George Yaled Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), the main franchise holder for McDonald's in the Philippines. The relationship, TCS's first with the fast-food giant in Asia Pacific, would "standardize" and "digitize" IT processes at over 760 McDonald's outlets in the Philippines.

TCS will carry out an extensive update of McDonald's IT systems in the Philippines to the cloud. GADC's IT infrastructure will be upgraded to offer "better insights, improved decision-making, and optimized operational performance."

"This collaboration with TCS is another stage in our ongoing digital transformation. "The implementation of SAP S/4HANA on RISE will provide us with greater agility through data-driven insights, allowing us to continuously improve our customer and employee experience," said Margot Torres, managing director at GADC, referring to the Cloud computing system.

The update has several advantages, including higher efficiency and reduced operating costs, digital transformation and innovation, an improved franchisee experience that drives stakeholder loyalty, process optimization, and labor productivity. TCS will use the SAP Business Technology Platform to deliver development and integration services for app development, automation, data analytics, and AI.

This work will enhance the fast-food chain's financial, material, enterprise asset and project management, sales and distribution, and user interface.

"We are thrilled to help Golden Arches Development Corporation in their ongoing digital transformation journey. Implementing SAP S/4HANA on RISE will provide them with cutting-edge technology, ensuring that McDonald's remains competitive in the rapidly changing food service business," stated Rudy Abrahams, president and managing director of SAP Philippines.

TCS said the alliance expands its footprint in the Philippines, where it has operated since 2008. The firm employs over 5,000 people across the country and serves customers in communications, banking and finance, real estate, and aviation.

McDonald's is one of the world's largest food-service merchants, with over 42,000 outlets in 100 countries by 2023.
