Dubai South and UPS have reached an agreement to open a new facility in Dubai South's Logistics District. This launch is part of UPS's strategic expansion in the region. Dubai South is the world's largest single-urban master development, with a focus on aviation, logistics and real estate.
In the presence of Ismet Demirel, VP of Transportation, India Subcontinent, Middle East and Africa, and Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Logistics District, Andrew Sleiman, VP of Legal, and Tariq Badri, Director of Business Development and Investor Relations, signed the contract.
The facility will increase UPS's operational capacity in the UAE, thereby strengthening international trade links via its extensive global network. It is scheduled for completion and will be operational by the end of this year.
According to Ismet Demirel, Dubai is a vital hub for UPS's global network because of its top-notch infrastructure and advantageous location at the intersection of international trade. We will be able to link Middle Eastern companies with more than 200 nations and territories globally thanks to this investment in new capabilities in the area, which will increase productivity and expansion for companies of all sizes in one of the most dynamic regions on earth."
In addition to offering first-rate operations and services, Dubai South's Logistics District offers constant access to Jebel Ali Port through a bonded logistics corridor. The district is divided into several zones, each with direct access to the cargo terminals at Al Maktoum International Airport; EZDubai, a fully dedicated eCommerce free zone; and a Contract Logistics Zone.
