WhatsApp is working to enhance its Channels function so that users can easily promote and share their content. Channels, which launched more than a year ago, allows users to broadcast content to a large audience. Initially geared at celebrities and huge corporations, the functionality has recently been made available to everyone, allowing them to create and run their own channels. While WhatsApp users may presently share their channels via a link, the app is now providing more advanced sharing options, such as the ability to create QR codes.
WhatsApp beta testers gain access to QR codes
Although this capability was discovered in a previous beta version (2.24.22.20) last month, it was not accessible to a large number of testers at the time. However, the feature is now being made available to a bigger user numbers.
Though some users, including the report's author, are still unable to view the QR code option in the most recent beta version (v2.24.25.12), its ongoing development suggests that it will be included in the stable version shortly. The feature was also noticed in the WhatsApp beta for iOS, indicating that it would most likely be available to all users in the near future. The specific release date for the feature is unknown, but it appears to be coming soon.
Recent WhatsApp Updates
In addition to improvements to Channel sharing, recent WhatsApp beta releases have focused on improving media sharing. A recent beta added a new Gallery option to the chat text field, replacing the Camera shortcut. Another update improved this feature by include both Camera and Gallery shortcuts. The stable version of WhatsApp also includes new tools including the Lists feature, which allows users to arrange chats using defaults and custom filters. This month, WhatsApp also introduced voice transcriptions, indicating a busy era for the app.
