Formerly known as Twitter, Elon Musk's social media platform X is further rolling out audio and video call features, taking the platform one step closer to becoming an all-encompassing app. 

A user named DogeDesigner (@cb_doge) has shared a screenshot of the new feature enabling audio and video calling on the app. "To enable video and voice calls on X: Go to Settings > Privacy & Safety > Direct Messages > Enable Audio & Video Calling," the user posted on X.  Resharing the post, Musk wrote, "Early version of video & audio calling on X".

But still, it is yet unclear how widely the feature has been launched. Also, it is not for sure whether non-premium users can avail of this feature or not. Having said that, many users have said of getting a new notification on opening the app today (October 26). The notification said, "Audio and Video calls are here!" However, it is still unclear whether the feature is available in India or not. 

In the month of August, Musk announced that voice and video calls feature were in the works at X. As per Musk, it is a step further in making the former Twitter an “everything app.” The calling features would work across operating systems including iOS, Android, Mac and PC systems, wherein, no phone number would be needed. The billionaire further added, "X is the effective global address book." 

In July, Twitter was rebranded as X by Musk stating that in future it would be an "everything app" inspired by China's WeChat, allowing users to socialize as well as handle their finances. Musk also changed the logo of the former Twitter, replacing its globally recognized blue bird with a white X. 

Post Musk acquisition of Twitter last October, the platform's advertising business has collapsed as marketers soured on his management style. Also, mass firings that gutted content moderation. In response, the business tycoon has altered towards building a subscriber base and devising a pay model for revenue generation.
