Zoom, a platform for video conferences, has announced a significant improvement to its webinar features, allowing up to 1 million viewers to join a session at once. Following many high-profile political fundraising events that exceeded the platform's prior capacity, this expansion has taken place.
Customers may choose from a variety of one-time webinar alternatives with the new product, which can host 10,000–1 million participants. This development, according to Smita Hashim, chief product officer of Zoom, is "revolutionizing the way organisations can seamlessly connect and engage with massive audiences."
The action comes after historically high viewership fundraising events for Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. Among the notable instances is a call organized by Win With Black Women, which in three hours raised $1.5 million from over 40,000 participants. Additional organizations, White Women for Harris and White Dudes for Harris, drew an estimated 200,000 and 190,000 views, respectively.
Zoom suggests uses in business communications, public sector outreach, and fan involvement in the entertainment industry for this enlarged potential, which goes beyond politics. Large-scale virtual events will be executed seamlessly thanks to the platform's Event Services team.
Although the additional capacity offers more freedom, it is more expensive. A $100,000 one-time webinar for a million attendees costs $9,000, whereas an event with 10,000 attendees costs $9,000.
