Sunil Nayyar Consultants: Adhering to the International Codes and Standards to Deliver Top Quality Engineering Services

CIO Vendor Indian consultancy market was opening up in the last decade of 20th century and there was a lot of working opportunities for an engineering consultancy brand. But to start one’s own professional consulting firm was a challenging task for many expert consultants. Aggravated by this challenge and motivated by the economic reforms taking place at the time, Sunil Kumar Nayyar incepted Sunil Nayyar Consultants in 1991 in New Delhi. “At that time, consulting firms either based-out of Delhi or one two consultants from other cities were catering to the needs of engineering consulting services. And that was like the opportune moment to provide quality engineering deliverables and design services to the clients,” says Samdarsh Nayyar, Principal, Sunil Nayyar Consultants.

Overcoming the challenges like slow economic growth due to introduction of GST and demonetization, SNC has been delivering top quality engineering services adhering to the international codes and standards like ASHRAE, NFPA, LEED, TIA, and more for building designs. “We focus a lot in continuous education and training of our team members in latest technologies and engineering softwares (building information modelling etc.) to keep them technically superior to our competitors. When somebody compares us with any local or foreign consulting firm, they find that we are clearly ahead in the race in terms of knowledge of foreign trends, technologies and international building codes like NFPA or IEEE,” explains Samdarsh.

As the Indian clients are sensitive towards pricing, SNC provides cost effective solutions without compromising in the designs and deliveries.”It is
Commonly observed that firms bring down the MEP (Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing) budgets of a project by cutting corners. However, we are aware with alternate trends, technologies, disruptive ideas and standards wherein we can work around, while remaining compliant with all of this and still making a costeffective, but a value-engineered building for the end user,” states Samdarsh. He continues detailing about the services, “What we are offering is MEP design consultancy including electrical, low voltage, air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation and heating, IBMS, plumbing/public health & fire fighting, for large commercial buildings, data centres, hotels, hospitals, residential, factories and infrastructure projects like airports, railway stations, and metro projects. Then we also offer sustainability services which are green building consultancy and Net Zero energy consultancy, and specialist lighting design consultancy services”.

SNC is offering superior services with all the electrical air-conditioning and MEP designs being green by default. They always start by preparing the project basis of Design (BOD) and DBR (Design Basis Report) and then progress further on concept/ schematic/detailed/GFC drawings maintaining the specified designs, efficiency parameters, capacities and their compliance with the local codes such as ECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code) and National Building Code of India. “We got affiliated to the US Green Building Council in 2009. We started by providing services to just a few clients.

Now, we are doing projects in Middle East, Mauritius Nepal, and Bangladesh besides India. One of the major factors for this growth is our commitment and strong technical background. As an organization we are very clear that we want to do A-grade work and offer quality and timely services. We will now be starting offices all across the country in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore. In our profession, the biggest marketing is good work and we want to stay upright to it,” concludes Samdarsh.
